A Note To State Agencies & Our Leaders about Problems ,Solutions, Ideas

To All Our State Legislation Leaders:
I am Eldalee Cook .. a Mom with Disabilities.
I where many hats for my Family such as Cargiver,
Support Coordinator, Activity Director, Transportation , Assistant to other Caregivers who are assigned to work with
Bobby. I attened appointments . I am also an a Translator for Bobby due to his disability ...etc. :
Here are some examples of my job...

Therapies
- Physical Therapies
- Speech Therapies
- Surgeries
- Education
Needs
- Daily Activities
- To Start Etc .*****************
- Transport
- Doctor

- Therapies

Note
my job is 24 hours 7 days a week. Please keep in mind that our challage becomes even greater as our loved ones
grow for those who are totally dependent ......
Please look at the catagory of Caregivers:
2 Parents: In our case we have 2 Parents but only one can physically help with all Bobbys
needs.
Bobby's Father can not lift
Bobby's weight due to the four stents placed in his heart.
I myself have adult ADHD and am also physically disabled but am doing all I can to help
my Husband and my Son Bobby and also care for my Daughters.
That is our circumstances

even more Families in different circumstances. Please Note Other Catagories:2 Parents , Single Parent, Grandparents, Siblings , Other
Family Members and Foster Parents. To all leaders:
Present surveys do not fairly represent all the divers groups od disabilities . The present surveys are Not Divers enough when questioning about disabilities...APD Surveys Does not cover all the diverse disabilities and actually cuts out some catagories :::This
Must be reviewed.
How many are available
to care for the loved one and are they physically capable of lifting and helping if it was required. If there is
a mental challange do they know how to work with the challange and do they have Back ups.
If there is one Parent are all the tools in place for that one parent to be involved
to help care for the loved one...
Please do
not expect that one person to be a Super Parent because Our Bodies are not invisable . Place in all your
services and policies an exemption or additional place of assistance for these catagories the parents of the caregivers
situations.

Because Everything You Do and Say Will
Directly Impacting Our Families Directly... I Know Personally Because Everytime You Made A Change In The Capitol We as a Family
Faced A CHange . Some decisions blessed us while others truly disrupted our Family.
We Don't excpect you to be perfect . Just Balanced and Fair.

A Quick
Note:
There has got to be a connection between Agencies. When Programs
come about and the Agencies Consumer Services do not even understand another Agencies Programs and Policies this lack
of knowledge affects the consumer being served.
Can You Imaginge if the State Employees do not understand the Policies
and Regulations of another Agency. How Do you think the Public being served Feels.
The Public is
left out and is seriously placed in a bad situation and aggrivation will be the result.
Problem::
Because the consumer/ public is being serve make the web designs applicable to the consumer/Public.
I will be honost. for the highly inteligent person or a person
who has alot of time the My Florida Website would be appropriate . But for some one who is in a hurry and does not have much
time or has a disablity it would take a while to find what you need.
Presently when a consumer files for a service from the state . The agencies dont understand other
agencies programs causing much disruption in the service . If one Agency has to go to many computer programs it will just
frustatrate the state employee and when they get to us the consumer they will already have an attituted due to the computer
and we will not be responded to with the right attitude.
If the consumer gets frustrated because they understand why the dont qualify in turn the state employee will
be approached with the bad atitude that is not their fault..
Please Lets meet in the middle...
Idea/Solution
Make
a website that explains all Agencies functions in detail; bringing all the information needed for not only the state
employees but for the public into one page. All Program Names or pictures for those who have a hard time reading ..
This will bring both parties to the same site and will looking
at the same page so if the consumer or state employee is confused the can pin point where the problem is on the website..
If there is something the public is not suppose to have access
to . Lock those pages....
But
Stop all the different programs amongst the Agencies so they also dont have a difficult time understanding each other
....
