State Information
<> We were forced to remove Bobby from a School setting that accomidated his medical
needs and kept him Safe and comfortable when pain became unbearable. We were able to place him in his bed and he
continued his studies on the bed realeving him from pain from sitting long periods of time.
In a home school Setting he was provided a trained
CPR Teacher Aid. A teacher, specialist, and counslors kept us up to date with what we should work to accomplish . We
had Bench Marks.
The
school held us accountable and the ultimate test was our kids progress. Bobby has been working with
the same Teacher Aid since 2003. In the Mckay Scolarship. So we knew BObby's Weekness and strengths. When a
new school year began we knew where to start.
Bobby
continued to progress miraculaous. Because there was a routine and a plan and every one was on the same page.
When he was uncomfortable physically we accomodated
hm and he continued.
Bobby
was gently placed in his bed and continued his studies continued in bed. Bobby loves learning because it kept his mind going.
He could not do what he wanted with his Body but that brain of his he felt was reaching for the stars.
Bobby had a goal and was reaching it in a home setting due to
his medical condition.
And
the Mckay Scholarships was not leaving my son behind. It suited his educational needs in a medically needed
enviroment .<>
But when we complied
for 2006-2007 for the change BObby not only lost 2 hours for travel just to get to the school . We wouls often have to leave because
he was in pain through out the day.
When
he went to surger it got worse not only for Bobby but for his siblings.

I was truly upset because I did not understand why they would
educate my son in such an awesome rate then drop him like a hot potato..
I at the time even made sure FLDOE new how Proud I was of the state
of Florida program in 2005- 2006 school year. Which is still posted on the website: under sucess stories The State of Florida did not leave my children behind from 2001 thru 2006.
The
kids were excelling in every area.
But now Bobby will have to graduate much later as a matter of fact we are seeking a regular diploma
so Bobby will be in high school until he is 21 years old. If he cannot he will not graduate at all.
Kids with special needs need the repitition ,they need the extra assistants. Bobby needs accomidations
and we truly do not have the funding to hire a Teacher aid. He had one with the Mckay scholarship and now we are at a loss
after 2006 bill 0256 bill passed
Our efforts to let the Legislation that Bobby was
capable and was willing to take a week of pain just to show people he could do it in by physically serving those at the Capital
and his sister aswell.
Bobby
struggled this week but loved everymoment he could serve we had three back ups to help BObby on his mission.
